I use Photoshop Elements quite a lot to process photographs, and it makes very heavy demands on my computer memory. I bought this Komputerbay 4GB 2X 2GB DDR2 800MHz PC2-6300 PC2-6400 DDR2 800 (200 PIN) SODIMM Laptop Memoryto upgrade from 4Gb to 8Gb. The memory arrived quickly and well-packed. I installed it with no problems, and it certainly souped up the PC. I am well-pleased with the purchase. Gives a new lease of life to an old laptop, if it supports this much ram. Review by WRH

I recently upgraded several laptops with more memory (and SSD too) to give them a new lease of life by expanding the ram to 8gb. This product is DDR2 and is for old laptops 4 years and more.

Newer laptops built in the last 3 years likely use DDR3 memory. Check before you buy.

I had two systems I wanted to upgrade.

1. An Acer Aspire laptop from 2008. (I can't remember the model number)

This system refused to boot with 8gb of ram, it refused to boot with 6gb. But would accept one stick of 4gb or 2 x 2gb), it's likely 4gb is it's limit. It didn't like the SSD either.

2. A Compaq laptop from 2009.

This system works great with 8gb of ram, no issues.

So 1 out of two then. To make sure it wasn't just a dud stick of ram I tried all modules in both machines. All the sticks worked in the Compaq, the old Acer just didn't want to play.

Package arrived promptly, RAM sticks in flimsy plastic packing with no anti-static bag. The 2 GB sticks were made of 16x 128 mB chips of a 'no-name' rather generic cheap variety on a flimsy looking board with cheap label stuck on. My laptop- an acer aspire 5720, would not boot up despite trying the memory sticks in a variety of combinations. I have subsequently heard my laptop can be 'picky' when it comes to memory upgrades but I was not filled with confidence that these items are of consistent and sufficient quality. Not much to get excited about really, the ordering and installation of SODIMM Ram was for my work laptop that was starting to show its age...

The order went with no issues and the parts were shipped in good time, arriving just before the due date, so no issues there, as a former IT bod, its not the first time I've done this so fitting etc was easy.

Good prices, got 4GB for about the same price as 2GB on Ebay...so good value.

As with most computers once they get a little long in the tooth the price of RAM becomes reasonable. RAM also this adds more time to the usefulness of the computer to accomplish the same and unplanned for objectives.

Less than five minutes, snap out the lower density RAM, snap in the new (the trick is to not lose the screws), crank up the system and the RAM is automatically detected.

It took some time to find something that would use all the RAM. Even programs that use a lot of RAM would not do it when I wanted to brag about having more RAM. I can tell you the everything seems to run faster in general.

Get it now before there is no more.

Similar to others comments, items did not work even though specification was correct. Purchased Crucial memory of the same spec (though more costly of course) & worked fine.

While defective items can be understood, I rated low as the whole experience for a "prime" supplier was poor. Initially wanted a replacement to give them the benefit of the doubt but correspondence too slow. Return process required completing return form but failed to supply it. Waited another day. Returned items at my expense and promised this would be included in refund. Guess what? No postage costs refunded. Still waiting.

This product need more detail on compatability if it was unsuited to a Macbook laptop. Previously purchased 667MHZ version worked perfectly with my other macbook, but despite reinstalling carefully the white diode on the fron of the laptop blinked repeatedly and I could not get these to work. When I replaced the two original memory boards the laptop resumed working without a problem. My acer aspire 8920 specs indicate max ram 4Gb. Checking Amazon I came up this pair of 2x4GB and decided that I should dare buy it, and so did I, and now my Lap boasts a hell of 8GB!
If yours has 2 ram slots aand you wonder whether its specs have been outfashioned as well, you 'd better take the chance to find out...Before you buy, always check for matching compatibility if you don't wanna toast your ram slot or worse...

The ram was well packaged, arrived quickly, however, if you are buying it for an early 2008 MacBookPro (4,1) - it will not work. In theory it should - Macbookpro takes DDR2 PC-5300 and 6400 should work wherever 5300 works, but not in a MacBookPro 4,1. Despite mixed reviews I decided to buy and upgrade my Windows 7 Dell Studio 1555 laptop memory. Before the upgrade I had 2 x 2MB so this is to double the memory size.
Installation was straight forward with no drama. Windows 7 reported 8MB Ram, all good. Immediately after I ran the Dell PC Checkup memory tests on 3 cycles with no errors.
The laptop has been running for over a month with no failures detected, fully tested by my son studying for his GCSEs.
I am happy with the product and happy with the installation.

What I would say is the Amazon product and detail descriptions that leave a lot to be desired. There are 2 descriptions for 8GB of DDR2 200pin SODIMM memory.
Both say DDR2 and PC-6400 and Dual Channel. One is ~ (Posted on 21/07/2014)

I was a little worried about purchasing these DDR2 cards simply because I'm a late started and slightly under experienced when it comes to "under the hood" Tech.

I fitted them into my PB Easynote TJ68 with a fresh windows 8.1 install and this 5 year old laptop is running like a dream.

To put it into perspective I'm a recording artist and I wanted to start home recording. My friends were trying to put me off by insisting that a laptop would not run Cubase and the software I needed (including fx, vst's etc ). They were wrong these babies have literally turned my old work horse into a speed machine.

This was an upgrade for my ever slowing but faithful work laptop (DELL Latitude D630).
Choosing Komputerbay was the best decision. It was to be fair a bit of a gamble but it paid off. The RAM came quicker than expected. It was in good packaging, which I have actually kept for other modules as very re-useable and of course anti-static.

At first fitting the RAM was a bit of a challenge as when I opened the bay there was only one slot there??? After much research I found that the other bay was beneath the Keyboard, which was honestly really easy to get to with the help from this vid on the old faithful Youtube.. http://youtu.be/CaeKW4kVRA0

Once done, my work laptop feels all new, with the addition of upgrading to Ubuntu x64.
