Just what the doctor^H^H^H^H^H^Hcomputer ordered, Review by Mark P.
I'm of the age where I remember having to pay several hundred pounds to buy a 32MB memory module to go in my Amiga. At the time, that was a huge amount of memory, but unfortunately also a huge price.

Having just built a new machine, I was alarmed - in a good way, I suppose - to see how much memory prices have plummeted, even since the last time that I upgraded/built a PC. There didn't seem to be much point in not making use of the full capabilities of the motherboard, so now I'm happily running with 16GB of RAM. I don't think that I'll come close to needing it all, but it reduces the reliance on having a swap partition/file, and hopefully means that I won't have to open up the computer again for a while.

Delivery and packaging were spot on as expected (this is the second time that I've bought memory from Komputerbay - and have not had any complaints or problems so far) and everything is working nicely. I'm not one for overclocking, so I couldn't tell you how well this operates under stressed conditions - but for me it gets the job done.

One thing to bear in mind if you're using Windows 7 is that it seems to by default create a swap file on your boot drive of equal size to your physical memory. This isn't usually a problem, unless you're trying to install onto a 30GB SSD/partition - there are solutions out there, but it took me a fair old while to even work out where all my free space had gone, let alone work out how to fix it. Thanks Microsoft... ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

Good Service Review by Regular Online Shopper "AC"
Komputerbay sent this very promptly after ordering, and the Memory worked fine, I did have to take out the existing Memory Chips first thou, as my current ones did not match these new ones. As always when buying memory chips, make sure you check carefully the actual specs you require, as most suppliers will not refund, if you have openned the packaging. ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

Great Value for money, Review by Blue Forever "BlueForever"
I am no computer expert but I know the basics - so please don't expect a technical review. I ordered this RAM for my desktop - upgrading it from 2 x 2GB to the 2 x 4 GB. The upgrade did the trick, increasing the general speed of the PC as I hoped. It arrived very quickly, and was exactly as advertised. More technically able people may be able to give a more detailed review on the performance but for my purpose this purchase has performed exactly as required and represented a cheap way to breathe a little extra life into a pc ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

Working with HP Proliant Microserver N40L Review by Miguel
After unsuccessfully trying the cheaper 10-10-10-27 version of the Komputerbay 16GB kit (, I took the plunge on these slightly more expensive ones. The other other kit just caused the N40L to not boot; that's all.

I am happy to report that with this kit I am reviewing, the server immediately recognised the full memory, and is now running an "unsupported" 16GB under ESXi 5.1.0.

If you want to save some time, you might want to go straight for these ones rather than the cheaper version. Been there, done that... ;-)

I will post back any changes or trouble in the future, so if this is the last line you are reading on this review, assume I'm still 100% happy with it. ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)
Good quality memory at a low price. Review by Aaron McConnell
I took the plunge and bought this memory based mostly on the quality promise made by the company and by the fact I could return it if it didn't work. I wasn't disappointed - both sticks of memory worked perfectly and my machine has been running sweetly since installing them. I had planned on reviewing my purchase before now but I simply forgot, which to me is a pretty good sign when something just works quietly in the background and you forget its there.

Don't be afraid to buy this memory - it is unlikely that you'll have any trouble (just remember to handle electronic components with care!). I've also recommended it to friends and they've had no issues either. ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

Got the wrong one! Review by John Brinkley
Foolishly my wife and I (I blame her, though) should have bought DDR2 RAM but fortunately a friend had some so we swapped with him.

Other than the blindingly stupid mistake (I still blame the wife), we were very satisfied with the quality and delivery time, and our friend is even happier! Great amount of space, but check if it will fit your computer, particularly if it is a custom-built one.

Would highly recommend the product and seller. ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

HP MicroServer is now a second workstation, thanks! Review by Amazon Customer "NickCW"
I decided to add extra RAM to my excellent HP Microserver to make it a more viable workstation as well as running various services. The supplied RAM could not really cope, this is not HP's fault because 2Mb would have normally been enough for share folders etc.. So I ordered 8Mb from Komputerbay.

The RAM was the correct specification (thanks to Komputerbay's good description); good price; delivered on time; in good, secure, non-wasteful packing; installed quickly (it's not easy putting RAM in a small footprint computer!) and was a trouble free experience. I did not need the instructions as I have installed RAM many times.

Now I can run several Virtual Machines, external drives, graphics tools, authoring tools as well as file and other shared services without any slowdown.

Well done Komputerbay! ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

Memory either works or it doesn't Review by Dominic
Worked fine for me. But hey, memory failure rates are pretty low anyway. Out of all the memory I've bought in the past 8 years or so, I've had faulty OCZ, Corsair and G.Skill stuff, but never budget memory. I think it's probably a waste of money paying more for the same spec memory when the chance of it not being DoA or faulty is unnoticeable; there really can't be much in it either way. And of course, in terms of performance this is identical to Corsair, G.Skill, Kingston or Crucial 9-9-9-25 PC3-10666 memory, so no worries there.

If they stick to their low prices I might buy from them again next time I need to buy memory. ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

This is a really great product. I would recommend this to anyone looking for cheap ram, granted it doesn't look as good as corsair or anything but it performs just like any other 1300mhz ram kit, and costs a lot less. It has never let me down, and would definitely recommend. ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

Solid memory modules Review by Creeping Rufus "Mark"
Is there a modern game or application that doesn't struggle in anything less than 6Gb RAM? I don't think there is and, if there is I don't use it. So 8Gb was a must and these modules were inexpensive but definitely NOT lacking in quality.

They deliver a mighty punch with their megaflops and my mainboard has pushed them over their limits without a problem. I don't keep them that high, it's just a test, but I've had no memory issues when running the apps and games that can frequently grind your PC to a halt. Good stuff! ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

Top product and cheap Review by Miguel
I bought one box of this ones, to upgrade my 3D render farm, just to test it, since this memories are cheap. I got really suprised about them. Worked really nice! And as you can imagine, a 3D render farm is a very demanding system, where the memories are really important. As I said, I bought a box, but since they work so well, I bought 3 more of them. Happy costumer, really great product, and cheap! ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

It works Review by Badger
I bought this when upgrading various other parts of my build, I was caught up on whether or not to get some extra ram but I saw the price of this ram and figured that I didn't really have anything to lose by trying it out. Once it arrived, I put it in alongside another 8GB of kingston ram and it worked at the specs that it says on the tin.

It's still working without any issues and it's been around a month now, so I'd say that it's worth getting if you want some cheap extra ram ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

Not suitably for legacy systems? Review by R. Court
I put this memory in a computer rebuild, the lights came on and the fans went round, but the computer wouldn't boot. I removed one stick, the computer wouldn't boot. I replaced the stick, took out the other one, the computer wouldn't boot. Tried swapping sticks and sockets, the computer wouldn't boot. I put in two sticks of 1GB DDR3 I had about the place, the computer booted fine.

I tried the DDR3 1600 from another computer in this one, this computer booted fine. I tried this memory in the other computer, I set the memory speed to 1333MHz before installing it, that computer wouldn't boot.

It's over 30 days since I bought the memory, so Amazon won't take it back. If you plan to buy stuff from or via Amazon, make sure you test it as soon as you get it, even if you don't plan to use it immediately after buying it.

I have no idea what's wrong with this memory, the computers didn't get to a point where I could get any diagnostics.

<edit 30.6.2013>

It may be that the problem is that the systems involved were running at 1.65 volts for memory, and this memory was expecting 1.5 volts. A 1.65 voltage is low for old systems, I think there was a time when memory ran at something like 3.3 volts. If that was the problem, I have no idea whether this memory has survived. It may be that it has, but I won't know until I have a system that needs memory at this voltage, at which point this memory will be slow (as I implied, you can already get 1600MHz memory at 1.65 volts, and this is only 1333 MHz). ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

Does what it says on the tin Review by Mr. Antony Gibbs
Giving this five stars, as this is a little rated item, and I have to say I was aware of taking the risk when I purchased, but I had very specific requirements regarding the memory, and this was by far the cheapest place to get hold of it.
The memory itself is now at the heart of my 2012 server, running Hyper-V, with two VMs running Exchange 2013 and Lync 2013.
KomputerBay dispatched fast, and the memory was with me quickly. There were no issues, and I would be very happy to buy from KomputerBay again ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

It's alive!!! Review by Mac McIntyre
I thought I'd take a punt on these ram upgrades as I was only trying to give my PC another year of life on it's 4 year old motherboard and so didn't want to pay for a wellknown,(expensive), brand.

Took the old ram out put the new ram in, booted up and everything as it should be. I've been running my machine daily for a month now with no issues whatsoever.

In conclusion, in my case, this ram upgrade was a good bit of kit for a good price and I got it fast as well.

Job done! ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

I was sold a pig in a poke! Review by TheBigYin
A couple of months ago I decided to ditch my old computer running a 1.6mhz chip for an all singing and dancing one. I started with a barebones kit with an Asus AM3 motherboard which needed DDR3 memory. After installing the processor and two sticks of this ram (8 meg) and hooked up to my monitor I got no signal. Sent the kit back to the seller who sent it back with a new motherboard but same problem so I sent it back and am in the process of getting my money back from Paypal. Meanwhile I ordered a new barbones kit with a Gigabyte mobo and put everything in that...and what do you know, no signal to the monitor. I then phoned the sellers technical dept. and was asked to take one of the sticks of memory out and start up and if still no signal replace the lone one with the other. Well what do you know, I got a signal with one stick of Komputerbay memory. That was enough for me to get Windows 7 up and running. Like one of the other reviewers here I thought I was unlucky and got one stick in a bad batch.

I wanted as much memory as I could afford at the time so, to me, 4 gig was not good enough and not wanting to mix memory module makes I plonked for another two sticks of Komputerbay's memory, big, big mistake. Worked fine for a day then when I went to boot up next signal! As soon as I removed the last stick in then everything was fine. Now I am back to 8 gig of memory after buying 16 gig in total.

To be fair I later found out that Gigabyte did not have Komputerbay on it's recommended list of memory vendors and that may be part of the problem but as soon as I can I will consign Komputerbay's memory to the bin and get memory from a more reputed dealer on Gigabyte's recommended list.

Once bitten, twice shy. ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)
Good budget option if it works Review by Toichat
Purchased this a few months ago for a custom build pc. Everything was fine and dandy for a while until suddenly I started getting random bsod errors citing "memory_management" as the cause. Usually a few reboots would fix the problem but it has recently got to the point where I couldn't boot the computer. Memory diagnostics confirmed my suspicions, one of the ram modules was faulty and needed removing. The other one is working fine and I assume it's just bad luck on my part that I got a broken one, but I would suggest that if you don't want to run the risk of multiple random system crashes and a lot of frustration that you fork out a bit more and get your ram from a more reputable company. That's what I intend to do now. ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)
Took a chance and it paid off Review by Mr. T. F. Norton
If you are searching around for DDR3 triple channel memory (to pair with a socket 1366 motherboard), then you are probably aware of current prices. 6GB of RAM will cost around 65 for decent quality, whereas this product retails for 75, and has the added bonus of being 3x4GB (rather than 6x2GB). So price / GB looks very good. My only concern prior to purchasing this RAM was that I hadn't heard of the manufacturer (Komputerbay) before, but still, 100% more RAM for 15% more money sounds like value to me.

The RAM works flawlessly for me. Unless you are a keen overclocker, its rating of 1333MHz is also more than good enough too. This is because unless you are running the top end Core i7 CPUs (980x, 970 I think), the memory will only run at 1066MHz anyway (natively). So if you plan to overclock one of the slower CPUs in the range (I own a 950, for example), then this RAM should be able to handle modest overclocking. The only other situation where this difference might apply is if your motherboard allows you to adjust the multiplier used to determine the memory speed - for example I can modify my multiplier so that it does run at 1333MHz speeds. This does have the minor consequence of (automatically) adjusting the latency timings, which I've added below. (Basically, while higher latency timings are 'bad', this slight increase is more than offset by ramping the memory up to its full rated speed.)

Just to give you an idea of the RAM's rating, it scores 7.5 in the Windows Experience Index test at 1066MHz, and goes up to 7.8 at 1333Mhz, which is certainly quick indeed. It's not the most rigorous benchmark, but at least anyone with a computer running Vista/7 can get a rough idea of how it compares to their current RAM.

Unless you are a user with data-intensive applications, 12GB is probably far more RAM than is necessary. However, if you are teetering on a decision between 6GB and 12GB and the price above tempts you, then go for it, because as far as I can tell, this is a very good product indeed.

For those interested in the latency timings for this RAM, they are as follows:

<533MHz CAS 7/ tRAS 20/ tRC 27 <- used at 1066MHz speeds
533 - 609MHz CAS 8/ tRAS 22/ tRC 30
609 - 685MHz CAS 9/ tRAS 25/ tRC 34 <- used at 1333MHz speeds
685 - 761MHz CAS 10/ tRAS 28/ tRC 38 <- overclocking territory, also beyond what the RAM is rated to run at. I haven't taken it this high ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

RAM for my HP Microserver N54L Server Review by DaveC2003 "DaveC2003"
I had taken a gamble to buy this RAM after getting two different reviews from people saying it worked as I had read previous comments on it from this web site and a Facebook site for the HP Microserver that did not recommend it. My current RAM in the server is 2GB which will not run VMware ESXi 5.1.

I am happy to report that the new RAM works perfectly on my server. It recognised the 16GB RAM after I booted it up. I did try rebooting it a few times as I heard from other people experiencing issues with the RAM getting recognised but I didn't have this issue.

The RAM arrived two days before the estimated date. Really happy with this RAM. If you are looking for cheap RAM to upgrade your HP Microserver, this RAM will definitely help you out. ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)
16gigs and All's Well Review by BV
Obtained 16gbs of DRAM from Komputerbay to get my music DAW fighting fit, and it does what it says on the packet. My Windows 7 64bit machine recognised the newly-inserted memory straight away and has worked perfectly from minute 1. I would purchase from Komputerbay again without hesitation, and probably will at some stage in the future. The item was delivered quickly and was solidly packed. What more can you ask. ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)
I guess I'm the lucky one Review by Rizult
looking for some cheap memory to up grade my HP Microserver N40L, currently running 8GB, read up that i could add 16GB so i started looking... cheapest i could find was komputerbay but as always did a little looking around and found not so great reviews.

i gave it a chance !! and all i can say from my experience yes it looks cheap and the chips are not all the same but guess what it works for me, i have it running for over 2 months with no issue at all, running it under ESXI 5 with out a glitch so i am a happy bunny.

Alternative memory i have found was nearly double the price!! ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)

I have already given a good review but you will not leave me alone. So the only way I know of stopping this continuous emailing from you for reviews is to slam your product with the worst review ever. Get the message!!!! ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)
Won't be buying again, but they are cheap Review by brabster
Purchased 2 4GB DDR3 RAM sticks, one of which failed after a week of use, at these prices it's not worth sending back, I will just stick to buying from the major manufacturers in future. ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)
It works Review by cwarner7264
Item was as described and my computer is running very quickly, as one would expect with this much RAM.

I have no complaints. ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)
Excellent value Review by Amazon Customer "Raregoblin"
I built my own pc and fitted these 12GB RAM in a Gigabyte SKT-1366 GA-X58A-UD3R Motherboard along with a i7 960 CPU and Corsair H50 watercooler and Alpine 750Watt PSU 120mm Red Fan (all from Amazon). I've had no issues at all. From the start all 3 4GB worked, I've run a memtest and all memory sticks passed with flying colours. Sometimes it pays not to go with the 'big' named brands and with a lifetime warranty you can't go too wrong. ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)
Buy it already, you know you want to! Review by Leigh
If you're reading the reviews of this product then you've already decided you want to buy this RAM and are just looking for any negative feedback to make sure you aren't buying a lemon.

Well let me put your mind at rest in two different ways.

1. The RAM works. I have 32Gb of it sitting in a home/smb server (ASUS KCMA-D8, dual opteron) that has been running flawlessly since the first time it was booted. It runs ESXi and plays host to around 2 dozen virtual machines, and hasn't missed a beat.

2. This product is fullfilled by Amazon (or at least it was when I ordered, always check to make sure before you buy). What does this mean? Well, for the official answer, go read the Amazon blurb on Amazon Fullfillment - but basically it means Amazon is the supplier, so your shipping, returns, warranty, etc are all handled by Amazon. Enough said!

So just buy it, you know you want to! ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)
It works, no problems Review by Mr. R. Vernon
So when a product is this good value I had some reasonable doubts about it working.. but it works great, 8gb overclocking decently, whats not to like? ***This review was posted on:*** (Posted on 12/06/2014)
