When I bought my early 2008 Mac Pro, it came with 2GB RAM and I furnished it with a further 8GB via 4x2GB Crucial memory, which was, and still is expensive. About 2 years ago, 2x2GB Crucial memory went bad and I had to discard them, so I was down to 6GB total RAM. This was only noticeably slow when working with Parallel's Desktop. Recently, another 2x2GB Crucial memory went bad, so I had to discard them, and amazingly, was left with 2x1GB RAM chip i.e. the Apple memory that the Mac originally came with. One thing I noticed all this while, since 2008 was how loud the fans used to be, I use iStat menus 3.0, so I can instantly see the overall temperature my mac is running at. with the old memory, consider that I have 4HDDs 2x2TB and 2x3TB as well as 2 Superdrives, my mac used to run at 54 (Posted on 12/06/2014)Rating - Worthy upgrade

Not much to say! Arrived in very quick time. Added memory to Mac Pro, booted up first time and memory working perfect. Extra 8GB ram certainly speeds things up and so far (a few weeks later) still working with no problems. After a bit of research found these on Amazon at a great price! Bought this RAM to upgrade a couple of original Mac Pro's to 8GB each. Was a bit wary as it's not a name I have heard of before but the RAM is good quality and excellent value compared to more well-known brands such as crucial/kingston etc. Good service as well from Komputerbay. Bought this extra RAM to augment an existing 5GIG already in the MacPro. Was slightly cautious about it, as Apple recommended RAM comes in at a much higher price but this installed easily and runs perfectly. Tried to find the memory for my Mac Pro 2008 online but met with rather sharp prices from the major suppliers and from retail outlets.Rating
Found the equivalent but significantly reduced same quality product from a relatively unknown supplier called Komputerbay.
Installed in moments and worked from first boot with no issues.
Would recommend to anyone to give these people a try.
Personally would have no hesitation in buying from them again.

I have bitten the bullet and decided to go green by upgrading my computers rather than replacing them. I got a 4GB memory upgrade for an iMac from Komputerbay and it worked just fine. So I got another 8GB for my PC from Komputerbay: on the first try, I got the spec slightly wrong, but this was returned to Komputerbay with no fuss. The replacement was exactly right, turned up almost immediately and has been working perfectly non-stop since it was fitted. Bought this ram as an upgrade for my HP XW8400, which originally had 4GB of ram in. It arrived quickly and without any problems, I straight away put the 8GB into the correct slots along with my original 4X1GB ram sticks. Now it's running 12GB with no problems and I would defiantly recommend this RAM. I would buy again if needed! For the price it's a bargain and this is not just cheap ram, it's very good quality it has been running for 24/7 for 2 months now and still perfect! Company was little known after searching for these 2 GB DDR2 FB-DIMM sticks, but prices were very competitive especially for Apple related products, they normally charge double or more for such items.Rating
Installed into a Mac Pro but did not work initially, however after swapping the other memory sticks around to get the right combination of 2 layers matching the memory was installed correctly and 12Gb showed on the bootup screen. As this was a server, the standard DDR2 memory did not fit, and most suppliers of the FB ram wanted my firstborn child and full access to my bank account in payment.Rating
Then I saw Komputerbay and the price was very competitive, perhaps too good to be true? I decided to give them a try - the memory was dispatched rapidly and arrived well-packaged. On opening the package, the RAM both looked and felt substantial, with the weight of the heatspreaders adding to the mass.
I opened up the computer, inserted the ram and switched-on. All was well, a much faster machine now it had sufficent memory to work without constant disk-swaps.
That was 6-weeks ago, with the computer in daily use, and all is still well.

Seeing as I have an older Dell T5200 system that uses ECC DDR2 that was in need of a bit more grunt, I decided to try up my system ram from 4GB to 12GB before going through the expense of replacing the entire system.Rating
The Komputerbay memory works quite happily alongside the existing Dell branded ram in the pc and I have had no issues with it at all. It passed memcheck with flying colours and my Linux installation has not complained in the slightest about it.

I purchased this for my Mac Pro 2008 after finding it on Crucial (who were more expensive). It arrived on time and well packaged. My Mac recognised the 2 x 2Gb immediately taking my RAM to 5Gb. You probably already know this but once you've know memory requirements (DDR DDR2 etc) there two further types of memory under your selected category ,buffered and non buffered memory . This is buffered memory and is not interchange with the non-buffered type (it won't fit) .Rating

This memory upgrade was exceptionally good value for money and arrived in sturdy packaging - easily snapped out for installation. Windows reports the memory to be performing the same as the previous (faster on paper) Dell memory. I now appreciate that memory gets very hot and my previous 8Gb gradually failed over time. It will be interesting to see over the long term if this memory is trouble free. I have to say that 8Gb would have been sufficient for my needs and I don't notice any performance advantage. Maybe this would have shown up more if I didn't have SSD drives. Memory modules were tightly packed in antistatic plastic holder. Holder was slightly damaged during transfer but it did it's job and protect modules. I tested memory modules using memtest86+ and all modules are fine.

I went ahead and ordered, conscious of the risk I was taking though, ordering through Amazon, and Komputerbay's emphasis on their 'lifetime' guarantee (no complaints from customers about compliance) I thought afforded some reassurance.
Immediately on delivery I tested all 32 GB continuously for 22 hours with Memtest86 v.4.2. Result: no errors.
I have now been using it for about a week with no problems. You can't beat the performance for the money you pay. The equivalent RAM from Apple does preform better especially in heat dissipation, (Or rather Apple Ram runs a lot cooler up to 12 degrees less). Regulate the ambient air or control your systems fans and this takes away the problem for me. There are other noticeable performance issues if you look for them, or indeed use your system to the max, but as i say for the money there is no beating this. To top it all there have been no failures yet, and all sticks have installed out of the box and put hard to work straight away. Recommend if on a budget, and would absolutely say this is the way to go with older systems, to. Upgraded my Mac Pro 3,1 Early 2008 with these. Install them correctly and make sure everything is seated properly and there are no problems. Also google the correct way to mount them on the removable memory bays too. Added them to my other memory I already had so now have a nice 22gb system. Can run Virtual machines to my hearts content or any other program for that matter. Brilliant price. Excellent. Go for it. I was a bit wary about the cheap price of this memory when I first saw it, and considering I was planning to use it in servers running 24x7 I was even more cautious - it had to be reliable. Anyone using DDR2 Fully Buffered ECC RAM will tell you that it can run hot which can stress good memory, never mind cheap memory, but the price was compelling enough to make me give it a try.Rating
I ran Memtest+ on every single module of memory I've purchased, running the test continuously for at least 36 hours - and sometimes up to 96 hours - to give the memory a really good workout. Every single module has come through the testing without a single error - an excellent pass rate.
I've heard all the usual rumours about it being cheap, reject, memory from bargain basement bins around the world, but my own experience tells me it is good quality.
We now have 160GB of this ram in production servers (that's 80 2GB modules) and it's all performing without a hitch. The servers they are installed in are hard-working and under stress 24 hours of every day without rest. These DDR2 have to be placed in pairs, there are two boards on a mac and you buy these ddr2's per pair. I already had 8 gb internal memory in my MAC PRO (four times 2 GB) and wanted to upgrade to 16 GB as I work with pro tools and do also a lot of video working. When I first put them in, the system obediently said I now have 16 GB internal memory.Rating
But after a few days upon checking it had dropped to 12 GB and when I inspected these new Komputerbay ones the system now said they were only 2 GB each. Changing them in different inserts the values dropped to zero GB and when I tried to use them alone, one in each board (like the set up is when you buy your MAC at the start) The system told me one was 4 GB the other one was 2.
It did not make any sense and when I put them back in their original place they were not recognized at all anymore.
I should have stuck to Crucial DDR2, which I had before.

The racks of ram arrived ON TIME & very securely packaged. Because I had read some horror stories I put the ram in in stages and watched the G5 boot up with increasing ram comtent. All worked well. When all the new ram was in I was down by 2 gig I think. I pulled a tray out again - its really easy,Rating

Found a couple of companies selling this memory for my MAC PRO - this company was about half the price of the next cheapest and looked identical so I bought it! When I bought my early 2008 Mac Pro, it came with 2GB RAM and I furnished it with a further 8GB via 4x2GB Crucial memory, which was, and still is expensive. About 2 years ago, 2x2GB Crucial memory went bad and I had to discard them, so I was down to 6GB total RAM. This was only noticeably slow when working with Parallel's Desktop. Recently, another 2x2GB Crucial memory went bad, so I had to discard them, and amazingly, was left with 2x1GB RAM chip i.e. the Apple memory that the Mac originally came with. One thing I noticed all this while, since 2008 was how loud the fans used to be, I use iStat menus 3.0, so I can instantly see the overall temperature my mac is running at. with the old memory, consider that I have 4HDDs 2x2TB and 2x3TB as well as 2 Superdrives, my mac used to run at 54 (Posted on 12/06/2014)Rating
