I installed the 2x2GB memory in an ageing HP desktop PC and gave it a new lease of life. Initially, I was still running Windows 7 32-bit and, as expected, the addressable memory was around 3.5 GB. Since then, I've updated to 64-bit Windows 7, and have the full 4GB. I'm very tempted to get another 2x2GB for the remaining two slots.Rating
My son is pleased with the upgrade, and is now able to enter areas (and situations) of the WoW world that formerly were unplayable due to low frames-per-second. The extra memory allows more of the game to be loaded and readily accessible when the action is intense. It also reduces the impact of other Windows tasks during game play.
Recommended upgrade for anyone in a similar position. Just be sure the memory is compatible with your motherboard. DDR2 memory is very expensive now so I was a bit dubious about ordering it from this (to me) unknown supplier but the price was the cheapest I had found anywher so I took the chance. I needn't have worried. The memory arrived promptly and was well packed. I plugged it into the motherboard and it worked right away with no problems to date. My experience on the Inspiron 545:
I had 2GB in slot 1 and 1GB in slot3. Inserting the new 2GB modules in slot 2 and 4 did not work.
Only by placing the new ones in slot 1/3 and one the other (1GB or 2GB) in slot 2 I had result.
I have now max 6GB instead of the expected 7GB.
Seems the mobo selects dual-channel for all slots once it finds a pair in the primary position, not all combinations are possible.
But one of the new modules paired also with the existing 2GB (it's the size that matters).

i actually ordered the wrong cards like an idiot (i got the motherboard slot wrong somehow, (didnt see the F at the end)) my money was refunded extremely quickly and mailed the cards back with no problems. emailed kompbay to tell them of my mistake and ask if they could check the cards i realy needed (these ones) within about 2 hours they replied with a link to these cards which were already in my basket and they were very understanding about my mistake. totaly amazing customer service extremely happy with them . . . i dont actually have these cards yet just placed the order but im not expecting any problems the cards i returned were in great condition not even a finger print on them, just wanted to write this review to let others know of my happy experience with there customer service team.. . . I decided to increase the memory of my HP Pavilion PC from 4GB to 8GB. After checking the type of memory which I required, I then did an online search for a supplier and the price. I wanted to double the memory on my PC and this was the best deal I could find. The memory arrived quickly and has not caused any problems since I installed it. I had put a new graphics card in at the same time and initially had BSODs, but after upgrading the BIOS and stopping the CPU overclocking, those have gone away. It didn't work on my motherboard, but I guess I can only blame myself - sort of. RAM is one of those products that requires a precise match. People who sell it need to go the distance in providing a very clear indication of which processors and motherboards it will work on and which it won't. I needed more memory for our desktop which I upgraded from XP to Windows 7 and added a new HDD. Being an older machine it uses DDR2 RAM which is a little bit more expensive than RAM for more recent machines.Rating
I searched Amazon for a suitable solution and came across Komputerbay who provided what I was looking for at a reasonable price.

Very few places selling DDR2 memory now and the price is fairly astronomical compared to DDR3 which is only a quarter of the price.
These were the cheapest I could find and I was a bit wary not having bought from this company before and checking one or two reviews but seeing as the order is "fulfilled by Amazon" I thought it would be worth a punt.
Order was despatched promptly and arrived quickly well packaged so no problems there.
Had them both slotted in inside two minutes with no difficulty whatsoever and the new modules were recognised immediately and are performing as I hoped and expected.
Been running without mishap for about six weeks now so I've no reason to believe that there should be any problems with them in the future.
So all in all these seem to have been a good buy with a considerable saving against other brands. I bought this product about 18 months ago and feel I should share my experiences of it. It arrived quickly with sturdy packaging. Installation went fine and both sticks worked well for about 2-3 months. Then my system became unstable and started crashing. Tests showed that it was one of the memory sticks. I contacted Komputerbay, sent the problematic stick back and received a replacement. This process took about a month overall. I must say that their customer service is quick and that the product has a lifetime guarantee so no problems there, shipping is what takes the time. The system worked fine for another year or so until the same problems arose again. Product arrived on time. RAM placed into PC to accompany 2 other sticks of 2GB DDR2 800. Runs in dual channel mode. Windows 7 64bit now showing 8GB RAM. Came in a very nice plastic box that looks like it's made just for RAM. Very pleased, and fortunate my motherboard accepts it with the 2 original sticks (maybe I got lucky and they are the same make, or they are generally compatible). Haven't looked at timings, but if you are serious about RAM speed/latency, you wouldn't be looking at these anyway. The transaction went smoothly and delivery was prompt, however one of the two memory sticks was faulty and because of the system I had to return the order and reorder the items. Once again the delivery was very prompt but again one of the items was faulty and was returned. I did ask if I could discuss the problem with the supplier, but this was not possible. It is unfortunate that this system is so rigid, the return P&P was paid by Amazon so it didn't hit my pocket, but after two attempts I ordered from another Amazon supplier and the items worked fine. This company stated in their advertisement that all memory was tested prior to despatch, this seems unlikely to be the case. I was replacing some RAM which had gone bad on my PC. It originally had total of 8GB (4 x 2GB). The memory turned out to be inconsistent; It worked perfectly well in a zoostorm PC and one a friend had made up in his own case. Only read 1.5 mg in Fujitzu siemens - esprimo and was not recognized at all in a Dell Optiflex 755 (I think). So overall a bit strange and hit and mis reliability. Just a few notes about this product before I get into the review.Rating
*DDR2 is an old memory standard, recently (last two or three years) systems tend to use DDR3. This is a product for older PC's.
*DDR2 seems to cost double what the same size DD3 stick costs.
This product works fine as long as your motherboard supports it. When I build a new system I tend to recycle the old system and upgrade it before selling it on. Therefore I need
new parts to upgrade the ram to a figure that's a little more futureproof. I like 8gb of ram in my system, however some old motherboards don't support 4gb DIMMS, some do if you update the bios.
Out of 3 motherboards I had spare, 2 supported this stuff out of the box, one board supported 8gb, the other a single stick of 4gb only, the last board only supported 667mhz DDR2 so I never bothered trying it in that. Success of this product in your PC lies with whether it's compatible with your motherboard and the maximum ram size all around or for a single stick that it will take.
